Jesus Christ coming to this world and taking upon Himself the sinner’s punishment. – – – Levi’s Conversion – Levi wasn’t seeking Jesus, but Jesus was seeking Levi. – There is a great contrast between a tax collector and an apostle of Jesus Christ. – The effectual call is when Jesus reaches in to a sinner’s heart, changing it to a heart saved by God’s wondrous grace and mercy. – All who are saved are effectually called. – Luke 5:27-29 – – – The Pharisees Criticism – Levi also goes by the name, Matthew (the tax collector). – The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is sufficient in the salvation of a lost soul. – The effectual call can also be referred to as the adequate call. – Luke 5:29-30 – – – Jesus’s Compassion – Luke 5:31-32 – –
